Together with American Songwriter and Sean Ulbs of The Eiffels, we had the pleasure of interviewing Maro over Zoom video!
Rising Lebanese artist and songwriter Maro released his debut single fall 2020 titled "carsick." The song is out now via Snafu Records and can be streamed here!
Born in Beirut to a Lebanese father and Ukrainian mother, Maro's multi-cultural background is a centerpiece of his artistry. Maro notes, "My parents' taste in music has really contributed to my sound as an artist in terms of deriving inspiration from Lebanese and Ukrainian culture."
Maro's first break came via his YouTube channel, where he grew a steady following from uploading lush covers of modern hits and oldie gems. After a breakout moment following a cover of Lil Peep & XXXTentacion's "Falling Down," Maro's fanbase grew immensely, with 28 million views on Youtube in the last year alone.
At only 19 years old, Maro can speak 4 languages (French, Arabic, Russian, English) and he currently sings in 7 languages (+ Turkish, Italian, Spanish). He taught himself guitar from online tutorials and listened to everything from heavy metal to old-school hip-hop; 90s grunge to Top 40 pop.
With "carsick" as his first original output, Maro is just getting started and we can't wait to see where he goes next! Bringin' It Backwards had the chance to catch up with Maro and ask about his fast rise, his diverse background, and his debut "carsick" -- check it out!
